Reflections of Marriage

Love is a miraculous gift, and a wedding is a celebration of that gift. Marriage is the love of two people committed to one another, but marriage is also a challenge. Marriage is patience and giving and caring and faith. It is honesty and openness and thoughtfulness and truth. Marriage is friendship and respect. It’s the willingness to accept your partners’ qualities and differences whether they are weak or strong. It is an understanding of one another that will lead to a greater understanding of yourself. Marriage is a promise made ... and a lasting, successful, caring marriage ... is a promise kept ... again and again and again!

No matter how busy your days may be, make time for yourselves. Unwind. Surprise each other. Find little chances every day to show you’re grateful to be partners, to be friends, to be married. To make love last, put each other first. Let love be your shelter. The world is noisy and confusing at times, so make a home that is a haven, a peaceful place where you can listen to your hearts and savor the comfortable closeness you share.

Cooperate and compromise with each other. Taking this step into marriage means to share, in everything. Not just your hopes and dreams, but to also share every day aspects of your lives. In a marriage you are no longer just thinking about yourself, you are now to take care of each other. If partners consider one another equally important, and each feels equally valued in the relationship, you will create the best circumstance for your love and happiness to thrive.

A successful relationship is based on “Communication”. But it is not just about speaking, it is about listening. No matter how much you love someone, if you cannot communicate ... then what do you have? To communicate effectively you must realize that as you listen, we all perceive things differently ... once you harness this understanding you can use it as a guide to communicate with others. Living a life of Communication will be your primary step in having an ideal marriage!

Life is not perfect. You will make mistakes, but each time you meet life’s challenges together, you will grow wiser, stronger, and surer of your love. Love is full of promises and hopes but don’t forget to make the plans, the commitment to each other. Invest your attention and all your energy into your relationship. A successful marriage means falling in love with the same person over and over again throughout your lives together.

Cherish your yesterdays. They are irreplaceable souvenirs of your journey through life. Make memories that will bring smiles and sighs whenever you look back ... and look back often! And look forward too. Dream together. Make promises to keep. Believe in your tomorrows, because tomorrows are what forever is made of.

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens. A good marriage must be created. In the Art of Marriage: The little things are the big things. It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say 'I love you' at least once a day. It is never going to sleep angry. It is at no time taking the other for granted; the courtship should not end with the honeymoon, it should continue through all the years. It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives. It is standing together facing the world. It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.

Reflections of Marriage ... as now two hearts are One Love, Two Souls are now One Destiny and Two Lives are now One Beautiful Future.
